Sometimes the best way to get a child interested in reading
is to give them a magazine to read. Too
many times, we think that books are the only “legitimate” reading
material. That is not true. Magazines get a child’s attention and get
them reading.
Does your child love to fish but cannot stand reading? Why not let them read a fishing
magazine? Do they love animals? There are several magazines that focus on
animals. Give them a magazine and let
them see how much fun reading can be.
Magazines can show a child how to do crafts. They have to read the instructions. They might discuss the life of a humpback
whale. Children can discover a distant
star or have fun reading riddles and jokes.
Many of us do not realize the many magazines that are
created for children. Some are
specifically for girls or boys. Some
even are for kids as young as three years old. Here are some that you can give
your child and let them read on their favorite subjects.
Don’t let this list limit you. Let them read any magazine that is
appropriate. Reading is important. Let magazines help you get there.
